What is a Working Load Limit?
Working Load Limits were designed in order to help against the unpredictable that may happen on your way from one destination to the next. These events can range from a strap failing to a sudden lane change due to another motorist, a hard brake, or even taking a corner too fast. All of these events can cause your tie-down straps to momentarily receive abnormal amounts of stress and could potentially cause your tie-down straps to fail.
Working Load Limit (WLL) was created in order to keep you and your cargo safe against these events by using one-third of the breaking strength of the strap. For example, a tie-down strap with a 10,000 lbs breaking strength would receive a 3,335 lbs safe working load limit rating per strap. If you used multiple straps this number would increase greatly and make your cargo securement even more secure.
This is why we always recommend using at least four different tie-down straps in four different locations in order to help balance the weight of the cargo and create fail-safes in case a strap were to fail your load would remain safely secured. Remember, there is no real limit to the amount of ratcheting tie-down straps that you can use to secure cargo and if at any point you feel unsafe securing your load you should immediately add more ratchet straps.
How to Tighten a Ratchet Strap Instructions
1. From the bottom of the ratchet strap slowly thread the webbing through the slot in the center of the spool of the closed ratchet.
2. Next pull the webbing through and remove the excess slack or loose webbing to make a firm but not tight webbing.
3. Begin to crank the ratchet handle up and down to tighten the ratchet strap into place. You will want to make sure the item you are transporting is snug, but not too tight that it damages the cargo you are transporting.
How to Loosen a Ratchet Strap Instructions
1. To release the ratchet strap, pull and hold the tab on top of the ratchet assembly to override the ratcheting function.
2. Open the Ratchet until it is completely open and ratchet is laying flat.
3. Grab the polyester tie-down webbing from the nonfixed side and begin to pull the webbing to release.
4. Pull and hold the release tab on top of the ratchet to close the ratchet.

This is made by using more materials which helps to add durability and strength while reducing the odds of the webbing becoming torn, as well as using our heavy-duty 2-inch ratchet hardware.
